How is this for an amazing blessing!
Andrew called me this afternoon saying that an acquaintance of his had a turkey meal that they wanted to give to us because they understood we had no family to go to for Christmas, and that they know seminary students don't have much to spend on Christmas dinner. We were just blown away that they were thinking about giving in a season that seems to be so focused on getting! We didn't know what really to expect until they arrived later that evening to drop off the goodies!!! This is the wonderful couple - Jerry and Barbara Newbold, who attend Grace Community Church and live in Frazier Park, about 45 minutes away from us.
When they opened their trunk (boot!) and started offloading, our jaw hit the floor!!! In these baskets was everything you could need and want for the whole of Christmas day! From Breakfast - Cereals, fruit, milk, eggs, bagels, cream cheese, coffee mugs, hot chocolate and a variety of teas, to a full turkey lunch with stuffing, vegetables and apple cider; and dessert with a variety of cookies, sweets and pie!
Lets not forget the Starbucks and Target Card for us to be able to top the day off with a little bit of shopping!!! All of this was just so undeserved, yet we are so grateful to the Newbold family and our Lord for blessing us in this way! I am really looking forward to cooking my first Turkey!
The other amazing part is that they have offered for us to use their home up in Frazier Park for next week while they are away! Andrew has really wanted to go to the mountains but we couldn't afford it, and now we have been given a luxury home for free! We are just marveling at all of this and are just so thankful!
